It  seems the more I excerise the more FAT I put on. I eat museli for breakfast, chicken and salad for lunch then usually fish and salad for dinner. I exercise 6 times a week burning more calories than what&#8217;s getting eaten &#8211; does any one have any idea what exerise I can do to change this!<br />

What Melasma is is the over or hyper-pigmentation of the skin which creates dark-looking brown spots all over a person&#8217;s face. These spots usually manifest symmetrically all over a person&#8217;s nose, upper lip, forehead and cheeks. The causes of Melasma are many, but at the root of them all is the overabundance of melanin, the chemical within the skin that&#8217;s responsible for its color. As for who gets it, the answer is mostly women, to the tune of 90% of all cases.<br/><br />
The Genetic Causes Of Melasma<br/><br />
Genetics has been shown to play a major role in Melasma. Individuals who have darker skin, such as those from African or tropical descent, tend to have a heightened risk for Melasma. What&#8217;s more, roughly 30% of those with Melasma also have a family history of it. As more evidence that genes play a role in Melasma, usually when one identical twin gets it, the other will too.<br/><br />
The Hormonal Causes Of Melasma<br/><br />
Female hormones in excess is yet another of the many causes of Melasma. This tends to be most pronounced in women who are either pregnant or taking birth control medication. In pregnant women, a hormone that stimulates the melanocytes called MSH is actually believed to be at higher levels in the third trimester, thus heightening Melasma risk.<br/><br />

That&#8217;s why those individuals with darker complexions who have more melanin to begin with, tend to see their conditions flare up after extended periods in the sun. There are also a few medications that have been look at as potential causes of Melasma. Dilantin is one of these Melasma causing drugs. Anti-malarials, anti-seizures and tetracycline have also been shown to be potential causes of Melasma. Another population that produces excess MSH and melanin are those with thyroid conditions, which too puts them at heightened risk for Melasma.<br/><br />
